Jim, Diann, and Wes Moore, own and operate a small family farm near Watseka, Illinois. The farm has been in their family nearly 100 years. With a strong desire to farm and support their family on less than 100 acres, Jim and Diann converted their farming operation from conventional methods to a system more resembling permaculture, where the farm produces its own needs and does not rely on pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They began this change in the mid-1980s when they started a vegetable garden and began marketing their homegrown produce at local farmers' markets.
At the same time they began raising livestock as naturally as possible, at first for their own family freezer and then for the community.
The Moores believe in the importance of farming on a small scale with practices that are animal-, people-, and environmentally-friendly, so that they can produce natural, healthy, safe, and great-tasting food for generations to come.
More information is coming to this site soon. Until, then please call the farm directly at (815) 432-6238 to order or visit their booth at the Market at the Square in Urbana, Illinois beginning the first Saturday of May.
Moore Family Farm products are available at the Common Ground Food Coop in Urbana, Illinois. Call the farm to learn about year round farm buying groups in the Chicago area, as well as the farm's deliveries to Mokena and Naperville, Illinois, on the second Sunday of each month.
